People that get a perfect one don't usually post just to say "mine is perfect"... but the 1530 that I got on 12/31 has none of the issues you mention and the wsxga+ screen is beautiful (no graininess at all - I returned a 1520 because of that). Also, I get 4hrs & 20mins on the 9 cell battery. I love this notebook...

I ordered mine on Friday last week looks like i was lucky. But if you look at the Offer Details you would see Dell put Offers subject to change in there. so the deal was till the 01/31/08, but it was subject to change and it looks like they did.
Now i wonder if they will again.

I find it highly unlikely that dell will continue to increase prices on this laptop. They would increase the price for several reasons imo:

    (1) They are selling the equipment way too fast and cannot keep up production with sales. Seems unlikely as the previous deal was not a no-brainer. Also, it seems like the US economy is headed for some shaky ground over the next year or so, and I would definitely classify XPS laptops as a discretionary, luxury item.
    (2) Dell was selling the equipment at a loss for some sort of marketing campaign (product awareness, inventory reduction, etc). This seemed much more likely when these laptops were going for 1200 bucks or less out the door.

I think we will certainly see better deals in the near future on the XPS1530. In fact, i'd be willing to bet on it.

i've been holding out in hope of getting it with the new penryn chips. but i think ill just get one now, and see what happens (ie. ill have a choice of returning the system later on; nab the deal while its still available).
i just configured one, and it actually came out cheaper than what i got when i configured it with the $699 off deal... from what i see (using mpp) you get 12% off for a systems thats $1600+ with the 3yr warranty now, instead of the previous 8% off.

I am not sure why everyone is holding out for these processors. what will they offer? a little better battery (Should help ASUS), Less heat. Battery would be nice, but the bigger the processor the more power hungry as well, so battery power is less. My Self i would wait till they offered something like a ULV version, then that would be interesting.
Unless you go with the T9300 (2.50 GHz) or the T9500 (2.60 GHz) you will not see the Extra Cache benefit's, the T8100 (2.10 GHz) and the T8300 (2.40 GHz) are only 3MB L2 cache. All are still Core 2 Dual as they are not offering a Quad Core Notebook processor. knowing Dell the upgrade price to the T9x00 from the T8x00 will be enough not to get the upgrade.

I will be more than happy with my current build. I do not see any real benefits this processor will offer in a Notebook over what i will be getting now, i could not afford the upgrade Dell wanted for the 2.4 or even the 2.6, so i doubt i would have upgraded to the T9x00 series anyways. My M1530 will be mostly used at home. In a Desktop i can see the benefits if you went with a Quad core.

Information on the numbers i listed can be found right at Intels site
    http://www.intel.com/products/processor_number/index.htm

I am totally agreed and that why I bought my laptop right now rather than wait for Penryn. I would wait for Nehalem.
