hi guys, my friend dropped her inspiron 1720, and the screen cracked. so we ordered a screen panel from ebay, and tried to replace it ourselves.

when we hook up the new panel, and turned laptop on, it was all wierd, like on the starting screen, there were 2 DELL logo, like the screen was cut in 2...

then we got into safe mode and it sort of looked like this (this is photoshoped not the real screenshot, but you can see what i meant)

also one problem when we were replacing the panel:
we strickly followed the steps from service menu on how to do it, but on this step

it didnt mention anything about the "connector" that goes to a slot near the webcam, the part in the red circle fall out, and its not really a connector, more like a flat piece of paper, I have no idea where that thing should attach to =/

I brought the laptop the Fry's and tried to get their tech to help, but they wont fix an "opened" laptop...
what should I do now? any help will be greatly appreciated!! thanks!!!

to powerpack: its only the cracked screen problem, I hooked it with a desktop's monitor and everything was fine

to chelet: thanks alot I will read it

to andyasselin: how/where can I check the model #? the seller listed specificly as 1720 panel, the size does match, but on the edge of the screen where the screws go in, the new one I got is missing 2 holes...other than that the size did fit in.

    thanks lots
