so i was looking at possibly buying an m1730 and they no longer offer the 9800m at all. only the 8700m in sli or single. it says due to the compatibility with media direct. so this laptop is now just a HUGE waste of money.

I still see the option on Dell UK's site; but the base price equals to $2339... Strong GBP atm.

They definitely still has them, but there is probably regional shortages.

So if out M1730 breaks in warranty, and dell has no spare part; we'd get Alienware laptop as replacement?

    maybe, maybe not...

you could argue a lot if they gave you a (future) dell 17" that's not as good as your specs and see if they'll give you the alenware

When a unit/part has to be replaced under warranty/or CC, it is always replaced with a part/unit equal to or greater than the original... ;)

yeah batboy is right. they will most likely come with an updated model of the xps m1730. dell and alienware like to keep things separate yet both owned by dell of course because both are for two different groups of people

I read somewhere that Dell will sell the same machine as Alienware, but with Dell logos on it.
