    Hi all,

In Januari / Februari next year I am visiting the US for a technical seminar.

I was looking for a laptop and my eye falled on the XPS M1530 from Dell. In The Netherlands it is not possible to purchase this laptop with a WSXGA+ (1680x1050) lcd screen but in the US Dell ships it.

Does someone know if it is possible to buy this laptop in the Seattle / Everett area? Or is there some other way to get this laptop?

    Thanks in advance, regards,

    Rolf

Currently Dell doesn't really sell there laptops in stores. Although that is supposed to change soon.

If I remember correctly, if you order it online no shipping is provided to hotels or something. You need to check on that.
However, come Jan next year Best Buy will be selling Dell PC's in-store. So you could possibly just pick it up. This option would not be as cheap though since none of the Dell coupons would be valid (not that XPS has many coupons anyway).

Well, Dell has started selling pre-configured dell units at select staples stores around the US but I can't confirm if any are configured with the WSXGA+ screens. I suppose if you were going to be in the US long enough you and you could get it shipped to a US location before you leave that may work. I don't know if there are any other options.

I live in Seattle and have just ordered one online . If you are staying long enough for it to be built and shipped you should be okay. all what you need is address. also if you are staying less than 3 weeks you can have a friend in the us buy it for you ,.. there are no stores that sells dell. there are mini stores in the Malls that let you see and test the computers so you know what you are buying..

Thank you for the response! I see the XPS M1330 at Staples but no M1530 :( And Best Buy don't sell Dell (yet?).

I am staying in the Holiday Inn at Everett from Jan. 26th till Febr. 3th. Perhaps it is possible to order it in advance and let the people know at the hotel that a laptop for me is delivered. But I think it is a bit risky....

I think the XPS is a really nice laptop, and it's odd to me that Dell Netherlands only ships WXGA screens...

Don't assume that it is not available just because it does not show up on the website. Phone.

If that does not work, it might be better to just wait. I expect that the 1680x1050 will show up on the website later.

Dell's cannot be shipped to hotels, etc.

Thanks Fuzzy. I phoned Dell but no WSXGA+, only WXGA+ (1440x900).

I prefer the M1530 above the M1330.. I don't know anyone in the US.

I think I can try to call Best Buy or Staples if I can pick up a M1530 with WSXGA+ in Januari / February.

Also the prices in the US are slightly lower than in The Netherlands.

there is always the option of purchasing through a reseller. Thats what I am doing since Canada gets hosed too with deals.

    Try checking ebay.
