Hi, recently I've installed nVidea driver from MS windows update ,then the fan is always run, then I installed nVidea driver from dell support site, but still same thing. My bios is A09 , and have I to update my BIOS to A15 ? or keep it A09 ,because I thing it will afect the battery run time (i.e the fan need more energy and then battery need discharging quickly). Thank you in advance.

I would at least try A15 to see how it affects your fan. If it doesn't change how the the fan is working, you could always return to bios A09. Just make sure you have the old Bios lying somewhere around in order to revert back to A09 if required. Have you checked your cpu and gpu temperatures to see what kind of temperatures they have to see if the Fan is staying on for a reason? If your temperatures on the cpu and gpu seem high, then that would explain the fan constantly running, but then you've got a bigger problem than just the fan staying on.

Do some testing and then report back. I use Riva Tuner for gpu monitoring and core temp for the cpu temp check.

This is a known issue! New NVIDIA drivers + old bios = fan runs on high speed
Either you install an old driver or a newer bios. With the new bios the fan will run constantly, so you might want to get something in between ;)

i can't beleieve that no one has asked the most important question - what are your temps like? Show us the numbers. If your machine is overheating then obviously the fans will always run.

I see that you say this problem occured after a driver update, but let's just make sure that your temps are alright.

I'm not saying that this is your problem, but you have to get the preliminary stuff out of the way first. Don't assume that you don't have temperature problems. Measure them. ;)

Most likely a great idea. But before going any further, I think the OP needs to post some temps.

Post your temps Asel. Here at NBR we mostly use 'Hardware Monitor' from Rightmark to record temps. You can find it here:

    http://www.cpuid.com/hwmonitor.php

Please post your min and max temps. To get max temp just run 3Dmark. Also include your idle temp, or the temp that is most frequent while not doing much. Include your CPU and GPU temps.

I did on my post, but I'm still waiting on a reply to get an understanding of why his fan is working so hard.
