Hey everyone, finally got my new xps 15 delivered this week.

I have just noticed today that it has chip next to the blu ray drive in the bottom chassis, not sure if this was damaged in transit or since i've had it.

It did catch it going through a doorway not too hard though.

Is it possible to buy replacement chassis or is best to just leave it.

Its nothing major, just a little annoying as i only got it on monday.

Well getting a replacement chassis is not likely, that requires a very extensive transfer of everything in the laptop and I doubt this is a part Dell will ship. Now if this might have come this way from Dell, they can replace the system if you want, if it's something you caused there isn't too much you can do. The only option might be some creative filling of the chip with some sort of compound and color-matching closely. But I don't have anything to offer you in the way of ideas on how to go about this...

thanks for the response, i think for what it is its really not worth trying to get it replaced as it was a custom build anyway.

It really is very minor and you have to look a bit closer to notice it, its just me being picky because its a brand new laptop. I think it probably was me who damaged it anyway, i would have noticed when i unboxed it otherwise.

Don't worry about it. There's a ton of complaints ranging from uneven this to uneven that, scratch here scratch there, blah, blah, blah.

As long as the screen has no dead pixel and everything works as it should, you're good to go.

Nothing stays new forever, so just enjoy it.
