    Hey XPS Owners,

So the idea is to display high resolution ( 2K and 4K ) pictures to clients. Touch-screen needed. Sales person works with 2 or 3 clients at the same time. So pretty much it looks like carrying the laptop from client to client/ client to desk/ back and forth all day. Typical work day is 8 hours. Only task needed is to display pictures.

So the main concern is weight and size and balancing it with displaying details within the picture. I'm imagining the bigger footprint of the screen on the XPS 15 might be beneficial but the smaller weight and the battery life of the XPS 13 might be better as well.

The other factor is the two models I'm looking at - I would get the 8th generation i7 with the XPS 13 and 7th generation i7 on the XPS 15. I figured for the intended task - this didn't make a huge lot of difference.

    No gaming.
Battery wise - There would be opportunities to plug the laptop in between clients!

    Thoughts? Opinions?

Well, I'd advise you to get two sets of weights. One of 2kg, one of 1.2kg. Imagine walking around a day with those. I personally don't find the weight of my XPS 15 annoying, especially given the extra performance it gets over the XPS 13. That said, the performance is of no issue for you of course. Batter life of the XPS 13 may also be a bit better, but assuming you will be using a higher screen brightness, it seems unlikely that either of them will make it through an 8 hour day. Given those two things, the XPS 13 may be a more interesting choice.

However, imagine how you are interacting with your clients. You mentioned speaking to 2-3 clients at the same time. The 15 inch screen will certainly be more interesting then as it allows a larger group to view the images more easily. Also, if you plan on doing a lot of standing around, handing around the screen, instead of sitting down at a table...you may want to look into other devices.

A tablet option like the Microsoft Surface may actually be very interesting, as it can simply be passed around between clients. Assuming money is no objection, the Surface Book may actually be able to get you through an entire day without charging (though, I have no experience with this whatsoever) due to its large battery in the base. An inbetween option may also be interesting, such as the upcoming Dell XPS 15 9575 (2-in-1) that functions as both a tablet and laptop in one. All three feature high res screens (4K for the 9575, 3000x2000 for the Surface variants (Assuming picture = photographs, the 3:2 aspect ratio is also an interesting feature of the Surface variants.))

With these options, you'll get the keyboard out of the way and allow you to present the images much closer to your clients.

Edit: As others have said, Android tablets or iPads may also be interesting. Samsung sells tablets with AMOLED screens, which will especially help with colors popping of the screen and really nice blacks. Generally, most people like this.

Get a tablet, like an iPad or Android tablet. There is no reason that you need a laptop to simply display pictures to a customer.

A tablet is easier to carry around. Everybody knows how to use a tablet. Tablets are cheaper. And there isn't risk of data loss or theft if you leave a tablet alone with a customer for a few minutes.

Get a large tablet with a good screen! Large 2-in-1 or large iPad.

Personally, I would avoid cheap android tablets for work as you will pay the price with a poor battery and poor screen. I don't what the "high-end" android market is like.

Not sure how you or your firm would address Android or iOS in your IT environment so check with your IT folks before going down this path.
