Graphics power wise. It's kind of hard to gauge the whole hybrid graphics card thing.... the geforce 8600 is like a low-mid level card right? how does the 9200+9400 combo stack up against it?

9400 alone is good enough to beat it..

The 8600GT WILL outperform the 9400, the first digit is the series number and the last three digits are performance levels, meaning 8 is the series and 600 is the level.

So a 9400 will not be more powerful then an 8600.

The 8600M is indeed more powerful than the 9400M, but I'd say you can only reliably compare by "level" within a given series. While the 8600M beats the 9400M, a Go 7950 won't beat an 8800M (though it's close).

    Whoa. The M1330 has an 8 400M.

And I'd say definitely go with the newer machine on which Dell seems to have taken lessons from its predecessor to heart - the 1330 has a number of build quality issues which come from some fundamental design/build problems.

Isn`t the SXps 1330 the one with the problematic lid when opened, as in it blocks the vents?
    I`d stay away from that...

Sorry. the 1530 is the one with 8600 right?

I've heard the whole vent covering isn't an issue at all. The air basically vents around the screen.

No, that's the XPS 1340. The 1330 doesn't block the vents, but it still has thermal issues.

Why not consider lenovo U330 or Sony Viao Sr series.. if you check the spec U330 is around 1kg++. Thumbs up for the weight.

All the m1330 out there with 8400 is waiting to die :/
