    Hi,

I was hooking my laptop up to a receive via HDMI yesterday evening to watch movies on a larger screen. all worked fine.

Now I cant get my laptop speakers working. When i check Control panel / sound I can see HDMI as a playback device but nothing for my speakers...

I may have deleted somethnig or changed settings. Been poking around for hours now to no avail.

    Any advice much appreciated..

    thanks

Try going to your Device Manager and search for new devices. If that doesn't work, reinstall your audio drivers.

    Howdy gg66

You could get the result you spoke of by disabling the device (speakers in this case) and not showing disabled devices. You can check for this by ensuring that when you right-click in the playback devices screen (or on the HDMI device if that is all you can see) that disabled devices are ticked to be shown.

    Just a thought.
