I am planning to purchase a xps 12 but was wondering what the differences were between the i5 and the i7. I plan on using it for basic email and web use. Also using it for server maintenance and some network troubleshooting. Am I really going to see a huge difference in performance between the two?

If both are dual cores, nope and even if the i7 is a quad core, doubtful. Web, e-mail and network troubleshooting definitely no difference, I have no idea how intensive server maintenance can be.

Basically running 4-5 programs to check servers and network connections.

Just took a look at the specs, given that both are dual cores and ultra low voltage ones at that, given equivalent amounts of RAM, the difference will be minimal.
