I have a linksys wireless router(WRT54G) to connect my xps to my desktop. When i try to connect the network, everything works fine, and i receive a strong signal; however, when i try to use a browser(firefox), or anything that requires internet, it says the server cannot be found. The desktop can access the internet, and my xps can with an ethernet cable hooked up but i would like to be able to browse the web in other parts of the house too... how should i configure my router/xps to allow for such a thing to happen?

im guessing this is probably a supernoob question but i just got my laptop today and i really dont know a whole lot about wireless routing...any help would be really appreciated.

is there any encryption or mac filtering on the router?

from the wireless laptop, can you ping the router or access the router configuration page?

You might have a problem with your wireless card, i did when i bought my XPS. Check the lights on your laptop that are directly to the left of the power button. If you see the light that says "WiFi" lit up, then your card is most likely working fine. If not, then chat with a Dell rep on dell.com, DONT CALL THEM.
