i read somewhere that after about 8 or so months dell usually calls you to get you to upgrade your warranty? is this true? id like to get th 3 year advanced warranty but would rather put that money into a cpu upgrade......then get the 1 year advanced and upgrade it later if i can...........

can anyone confirm dell does this?

It's typically 60 days before the warranty runs out when you get an email notice. If they get no response from you then they'll contact you again in 30 days. So you get two chances before the warranty runs out.

Also your strategy is a good one because sometimes Dell will bait you with a reduced price for an extended warranty. So load up on your options now ! :)
