You won't notice that much of a difference going from a T8100 to a T9300/9500. I don't think it would be worth the money.

Granted the difference will be minor but he should still notice it. The T8100 has a 3MB cache whereas the T9300/T9500 has a 6MB cache. The extra cache + an increase in clock speed will translate into better performance.

Can you not use the newer P series processors on the M1530?

P series can be used only with Montevina platforms. They will not work with the M1530 wich is Santa Rosa (older than Montevina).
The fastest CPU that M1530 can handle is T9500. It can run even a X9000, but there will be heat issues.
I recomment the T9300 as well. It's a powerful CPU.

Unless you get a really good deal on someone's used T9300/T9500 etc., I do not think it will be worth upgrading your CPU. The performance gains will likely be unnoticeable in anything but benchmarks and you'll gain a few frames per second in your favorite games due to the higher clock speed. What exactly do you use this M1530 for?
