Probably stupid question, but is it possible to install a nVidia chip into the SXPS 16?

I don't see any easy way of doing it because the gfx is soldered to the motherboard. You may be able to buy a motherboard with a nVidia and de solder it and solder it to the SXPS 16 motherboard

no, the GPU is soldered onto the motherboard.
However, I would love to see Dell offering an option between ATi and Nvidia graphics.

There is no possible way of doing this unless you're a professional computer engineer and you have all the very expensive equipment to perform this procedure. And don't forget that you would need a'lot of 1640's to perform the experiments with.

So(to the OP), NO-it is impossible for you to do it ;)

    That would be interesting...

very possible if they make the graphics card removable, which they have done in the past. dunno why they stopped doing it.
