i just bought that sweet hard drive from seagate, the momentum 7200.3
is a 320GB, 7200RPM 2.5" HDD for my XPS M1330
that drive really kick ***! programs open instantly, windows live messenger, photoshop, microsoft word, used to take longer to open but with me new hdd they open lightning fast!
but here's the thing, with my old WD 160 GB @ 5400 PRM windows booted in 3 and a half windows bars (yes that is my way yo measure windows boot haha)
but that new seagate hdd boot windows in 16 windows bars!! that a lot of difference, how can my old slower hdd boot windows faster than the new faster disk?

How about doing a defrag?
-
A few extra seconds worth of your time is worth the speed gains that are actually important, isn't it?
-
-
Bigger drive > multiple platters > longer seek times?
-
agreed but boot time is ridiculously high!
about defrag, already done that 3 times using defaggler, windows defrag will never end!! -
BTW, those are my hard drive specs.

You know you could do a boot of XP instead and see how that goes? Maybe it'll be surprisingly faster. Who knows. XP boots faster than Vista by far.
