Recommended cpus are (with Bios a09 or newer)
    T9500 2.6gh 6m cache
    T9300 2.5gh 6m cache
    T8300 2.4gh 3m cache
    T8100 2.1gh 3m cache

I think not recommended but some body try X9000 2.8gh 6m cache and reported works with m1330 but search and study before you try. If you are lucky you can OC to 3.4gh.

If I were you I will not upgrade cpu. T8300 is new model and very good for M1330. Use money for 4G RAM upgrade? if you are not already done yet.

I thought the T9600 is one of the newer chips for the centrino 2 platform?

    Oh! yes.

Sorry! Yes. T9600 is the one of the centrino 2 platform.

New centrino 2 platform is not compatible. Someone tried p9500(25w parts) and did not work.
At least BIOS is not supported and may be some thing else because he said he could not even keep power up for few seconds.
