    Hi,

I currently have an XPS m1530 with the WXGA glossy screen (1280x800) and was looking to replace it with the WUXGA screen (nothing wrong with the current screen; just need more resolution.)

    Questions:

    1. Can I just do a simple swap? In other words, do I have to worry about details like video card etc.?
    2. What are the questions that I need to ask before buying one? (e.g. Manufacturer, warranty, brightness, type etc.?)
    3. Glossy vs non-glossy - please let me know your opinions
    4. Would the ones sold on eBay (links below) work fine?

    http://cgi.ebay.com/DELL-XPS-M1530-L...#ht_1997wt_999

    http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-DELL-XPS-M15...ht_1820wt_1165

    5. If not, which are the best places to get one from?
    6. Which is the best place to sell of my old screen after I do the swap?
    7. Any other suggestions/pointers? I found an excellent pictorial HOWTO on the screen replacement procedure on this site.

Thanks in advance for all your help,
    _steve.

Thanks mirage_bg. I have some more questions:

    1. I have the 8400M GS (w/256 MB) and I'm wondering whether it'll be able to handle the 1920x1200? I don't do gaming or anything of that sort; its mainly used for programming and runs linux (need to see more lines of code per screen, that's why I'm looking for the higher resolution)

    2. If my graphics card will support the screen, is the screen swap going to be a direct one? Do I need to check compatibility etc.? Do I need any parts other than the inverter?

    Thanks again,
    _steve.

    More questions :)

    3. I see many different revisions of LP154WU1 (upto (TL)(B1)) - which one should I get?

    4. Can I get the inverter separately? I see that the price for the screen alone is around $140 ( http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-LP154WU1-TL...19b6844e60&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14#ht_1857wt_941) and $12 for the inverter.

    5. I see some vendors selling the "exact" screen - zero dead pixels vs 3-5 dead pixels (like the one I linked above) - what's your opinion? Which one should I go with?

    Thanks again,
    _steve.
