The left mouse button on my m1530 has taken a battering. It has gone all lop-sided, crunches every time I press it, and now doesn't work at all unless I press down on it very very hard with two fingers.

I work fast, so this is an incredibly frustrating thing to happen, as everything now takes ten times longer to do.

I have read the service manual, so I have a job on my hands getting the palmrest off, but I have taken several other laptops apart before and I should be able to navigate my way around. Is it likely that it will just need some cleaning and re-adjusting?

You could try opening it and cleaning the button and reseating the connection, if that doesn't work I think its time to call Dell.

Cuzman, the palmrest of your m1530 is troublesome to remove, you practically have to disassemble the whole computer to replace it, since its the one that holds the computer together screwed into the bottom, and if your button is no longer working then its time to call dell, they will replace it for a new one, ive had 2 palmrest replacements so far, its amazing how delicate the mousepad is..

i dont think cleaning it will make a difference...
