I placed an order last night for a refurb m1330. The spec for the system says that it is the LED screen and has a 2.0mp camera. I thought this config didn't exist - what gives?

You cant have both, the 2.0 is too fat for the led screen and physically wont fit.

Yes the 2.0 is for the regular screen unless
they have made a change of some sort

Well, it is scheduled to arrive tomorrow so I'll be sure to update.

If it doesn't have the 2.0, think I'll be able to get some $ back, seeing that they sold me a 2.0 and sent a .3?

just have a look on the receipt, the LED display are too tiny for a 2.0 mp camera... im believe they dont even have this option. If its described that you have 2.0mp means that you dont have the LED display or the assembly manufacture has changed for smaller webcams.

another thing is if you have the receipt that you bought a LED with 2mp and came 0.3 than you should have some money back

As mentioned above, there are two scenarios here:
    1. You are NOT getting an LED LCD; instead, it's a CCFL LCD with 2.0 MP webcam
    2. You are getting an LED LCD with a 0.3 MP webcam, and they just entered the information wrong.

Let's hope that it's #2. I dont think you can argue with them to get some money back based on "well, I paid for 2MP camera, but received 0.3MP instead". It's just a typo. That screen and webcam combination doesn't exist. Then again, you may find a "helpful" CSR that will give you some money back, but personally I wouldn't bother to call.

If it turns out to be #1, they'll send a technician to replace the entire screen assembly (back panel with cables, front bezel, camera, mics, etc), because you cant simply swap LED LCD with CCFL LCD due to difference in physical dimensions.

Let's see what you get tomorrow :)

I double checked my receipt, confirmation and description of the machine on the dell web site - everywhere it says that I have the thin & light LED and a 2.0mp camera...weird. Checking outlet machines right now and there are others listed as also having the LED & 2.0mp.

I am sure it's a mistake. If you try to build a new m1330, the choices for the screen are these:
    1. Standard Display with 2.0 Megapixel Webcam [subtract $116]
    2. Slim and Light LED Display with VGA Webcam

To be honest, I've always been a bit wary of the 'the LED panel's too thin for a 2MP module' explanation. Samsung has razor thin phones with 3-5MP cameras so I'm pretty sure it's not a purely physical limitation here.

Just an update - I tried calling dell a few times to see if I could get anything out of them for the mistake - no luck after a runaround. I was a little peeved so I filed a partial claim with Amex and they found in my favor.

Maybe Dell upgraded the webcam by now? The Studio 15 offers LED with 2.0 MP webcam. Just a thought...

eh, the m1530 offers LED with 2.0 mp webcam.... for the m1530, teh thickness doesnt change fro LED vs CCFL, j ust the wegith and LED

for m1330, the LED version is thinner than teh CCFL, thus unable to use 2.0mpx

anyways.... its kinda pointless for 2.0mpx.... the quality is probably crap and u wont record video at 2.0mpx
