I've noticed this since the first week of receiving my laptop. On a completely flat surface, the southwest side floats about 2-3mm in the air, causing a slight rocking movement whenever I'm using the keyboard.

I know this is probably due to Dell's horrible build quality, and is probably well within their expected margin of error. I've actually read reports of worser incidents, but I was wondering if anybody is sharing this problem, and what solutions you guys might have came up for it. Thank you in advance!

They'll probably replace it. Hell, they accidentally sent out a base when I had my screen replaced so I'm sure they don't have a shortage of bases.

I took your advice and contacted Dell support, who agreed to send out a replacement for me. I should just have mentioned this when I called Dell to get my screen replaced--they would've changed both in one fell swoop.

Oh well. Thanks for you help, meh_cd!

Take the bottom half of the laptop in both hands (one on each side of the keyboard) and apply firm but gentle presure in the necessary direction until the desired plane is achieved. This is best done with the machine left on. Ignore any sounds like plastic popping and circuitry shorting out; these are perfectly normal occurances in such a procedure. :D

    J/K

Seriously though, if it really bothers you, call Dell like was mentioned. If Dell won't do anything about it, then live with it.

    \\edit

    Oh, you did. Good. :p

Read my last post on this page. It fixed the wobble on my M1530 with no harm done:

There are many who carefully removed the rubber. Glued a small piece of paper in the spot and then reglued the rubber back on.

I just put a wood screw up there and I can adjust it depending on how bad the wobble gets. When I open up all 4 screws, I can get that baby sitting almost an inch off the table.

lol just kidding but an amusing picture dont you think? Kidding about the screws that is eheh

I recently noticed that my 1330 has the same problem, but only when the screen is open. When the laptop is closed it is completely flat with no wobble.

No ****... I just did it too! LoL. I barely pushed the thing. The wobble changed sides and was smaller so I did the same thing on the other side and now it's perfectly flat... Nice!
