Are you trying to install Windows Vista or Windows XP? I'm having the same problem while trying to install Windows XP.

Click here and see the 7th post.

It explains that the last time you shut your computer down in Vista you need to make sure the bluetooth module is enabled or there will be no way for Windows XP to see the bluetooth chip and install software for it.

Whether you're installing Vista or XP, if you get it resolved I'd love to hear how you did it. Thanks

I now have a dual boot with Windows XP and Windows Vista Home Premium on this computer. Windows Vista recognizes the Bluetooth fine, I didn't even install any drivers for it. I turned the Bluetooth off with the wireless switch and then turned it back on. Still seems to be working fine. I restarted the computer and booted in to XP. Tried to install the drivers again. No luck whatsoever. Still says that I need to activate the bluetooth to continue the installation. I'm at a loss. I have two XPS 1330 computers configured exactly the same. I used the same driver on the other one for Windows XP and it worked perfectly. What gives?

    Try this:
Download from the Dell support center the bluetooth driver (wireless 355 bluetooth module) for the xps m1330. It's an .exe file, but use winrar to extract it. You'll find a folder, open it, and then, open win32 folder and execute INST. If a message appears saying press Fn+F2, cancel. After that, the bluetooth icon will appear at the bottom right cornet of the screen.
Maybe, you think it's the same as using the driver from the driver cd but I can ensure you that it is not the same.
Try this. I did it yesterday and I had no problems.

P.D: Please, I beg you pardon for my English. I'm from Spain.

Thanks a bunch. I'll try this as soon as I can. I might not have a chance today. I'll let you know how it goes though. Thanks again.

Yes, the bluetooth icon shows in the taskbar but it doesn't do anything!
The only option in its right-click menu is to "Enable Bluetooth Radio" but it gives an error message saying: "Bluetooth device not found. Please verify that your Bluetooth device is properly connected and turned on."

    Somebody please help!

    if u have the m1330

go to BIOS, enable the physical hardware switch(on right side) is set to enable bluetooth....

restart into vista with the switch as OFF

then install the original Dell Bluetooth driver for m1330... at screen when asked to press Fn+F2.... set switch as ON

Hey thanks for this - dont know if it helped the OP, but it solved my problems today - had reinstalled vista a month ago, but only needed bluetooth today when my Sony C902 phone arrived. Couldn't find bluetooth settings anywere, despite it being turned on in the BIOS.

    Cheers matey!
