    what kind of lag?
long pause's? or just frame skipping?

well, when i start playing wow, it runs smooth and great. after about an hour, when its hot, i start getting only like 30 fps all around... and if i move my camera it'll drop to about 10 fps... every once in a while it'll lag spike and i'll be getting like 5-8 fps for about 5 seconds.

    Which addons are you running?

I have been having the same problems and usually only a system reboot would clear the problem up once it started. Last night it happened when I was on the Island doing dailies and even after I rebooted it was still horrible... I then shut off all my addons and viola it was running smooth again...

I think the problem is with one of the addons we are running.

    I run the following addons:
Auctioneer Adv Suite, Quest Helper, Outfitter, Atlas Loot, Cartographer, Recount, Healbot, and Gatherer. I'm pretty sure that is all of them. I just updated them like 3 days ago but there are fixes to them almost every other day as problems are being reported daily since the major patch we just had...

I believe it is a memory leak somewhere with one of the addons that is causing the problem... my bet is with quest helper or cartographer... they give me a error in regards to each other when I first log in..

I am gonna shut off just Cartographer and Quest helper tonight and see how things run and figure it out from there.

^^^There is the Issue....the Nvidia chip automatically underclocks when it is very hot or under battery power only

Although the addons might be an issue (I honestly have a couple in a M1330 and no issues yet)

It is most likely the heat bro...make sure she is having some cool air going to her....and if you have a notebook cooler put it under there.

yeah, i've determined that it IS the heat. i dont think its my addons, even though i only have a few, because like i said when i first start playing im getting 60 fps everywhere... so, are there anyways i can keep my laptop cool without buying anything? if not, what do i need to buy?

    Download this
    http://www.cpuid.com/hwmonitor.php
Post the temperatures that you're getting when it starts to lag. If your laptop is overheating then it needs to be looked at by Dell.

I hadn't seen that they had a cartographer updated since the 3.03 patch (or 3.02 for that matter). If you haven't updated, that could be the problem.

I'm running on an older Gateway 17" with a 7900GS at 1900x1200. Since I updated my addons the only real lag spikes I get are when auctioneer is updating its databases - CPU or I/O intensive though, not a GPU issue.

By the way, what res are you running with to get 60FPS out of your 8600GT? All setting maxed (even shadows)?

    1) Check your addons > some probably need updating. Also try to disable an addon every once in a while to try to pinpoint to a perticular addon
    2) Check your battery settings. The 'default' setting is usually "Power Saver" which isn't a good idea to have if you play games
    3) Check your WoW settings. A lot of players (I admit, I fell in this trap too) will max out everything at first. Truth be told that a lot of the settings can be put in the middle or low and will still look awesome. Ground Clutter and Weather Effects are two examples.

Last night I ran WoW without any addons and was able to do Reg Durnholde, Black Morass, and then Heroic Black Morass one right after the other and I had no drops in framerates at all...

When I have addons running I am lucky to get 2hrs into gaming before I have major issues. I dont think the problem is heat... I have a laptop cooler and always have... These problems started happening since the last WoW patch and after I downloaded the new addon updates...

The problem is with one of the addons I listed above... If you posted what addons you are running too perhaps we could pinpoint the problem one.

I have a few issues with my WoW frame rate as well. I started noticing the difference in FPS after the last few patches recently.

I am indeed running a more business savvy laptop with a GM945 integrated graphics card, but before I was good for about 20-25 in world and 15 or so in cities.

I've lowered a lot of settings and kinda got back to what I had before, but outlands is just down right holding me down. I think the average FPS is around 17 or so in Hellfire Penn. In Ramps... i get an average of 10 or so....

tough to play lately, but I'm looking at getting a new comp soon.

Quest Helper has a memory leak and will cause choppiness on some machines. Cartographer should be OK.

I was pretty sure it was Quest Helper... That addon is a system memory hog anyways..

Last night someone ingame told me about an addon called carbonite or something like that....

I guess it is Cartographer and QuestHelper all rolled into one... Might have to check it out tonight...

i dont have either auctioneer or cartographer as addons, so that can't be it.

Well, check your temps, make sure your GPU is under 85º, at least in my case when i reach 85cº on GPU it starts loosing FPS on wow, besides that the addon QuestHelper its a mofu, and kills your memory if you use it, try "/questhelper hide" just to see if you notice some change, when u get that fps drops again, type "/reloadui" , and see if something change.

the only addons i use are questhelper, atlas, and atlas loot... i guess it might be questhelper after all... i'd like to check right now but the realms are down... :|

but yeah, i'll try out some of these ideas and see what happens.

the addon is called carbonite Quest... great addon.. it is questhelper and cartographer combined.

only problem is that i cant seem to get map to show in instance and also no node tracking for gathering skills.

I'm having similar issues with the following addons:

    Atlas
    AtlasQuest
    AtlasLoot
    OneBag
    QuestHelper
    SellFish
    Titan Panel

So it's one of those two.

If you check the TitanPanel, in the performance module, you can see that the questhelper starts with very few memory usage, and starts growing very fast, after few hours, or maybe just minutes, it will be using lot's of memory, and starts to decrease the fps, in my case is like this, and i solve it using the command /reloadui.

Ok, so last night I Downloaded Carbonite and ran all of my normal addons except Quest Helper and Cartographer and I ran into problems again while doing daily quests on the Island... I am beginning to think that perhaps Quest Helper is not the problem.. I am leaning toward Atlas Loot, now...

And for those that mentioned Heat as the culprit I downloaded that Temperature monitor and the highest anything got on my PC was the GPU which was 67C Max temp... CPU core 1 was 63C Max and core2 was 65C Max... both hard drives were much lower can't remember exact number. (I am playing from Afghanistan and the ambient temperature in our B-huts is getting lower and lower as winter comes it was probably 45-50F in my B-hut while I was playing, hence the nice low temp readings... Thank goodness for electric blankets)

Tonight when I am on I am gonna first check for updates to Atlas Loot. If there are any new versions since I last DLed it I will check the patch notes and see if the issues we are having are mentioned, if they are I will go ahead and keep Atlas running and see if the new version fixes the problem and if not I am gonna play without it and see if I have the same FPS problems...

:(, well let us know whan can you find out...
maybe you could disable all addons and see if persist, if does, on the WoW folder, you have a *** folder, with your account settings, keyblindings and so, make a back up of it, delete it and try that, i read this in some wow forum, but never tryied, maybe it works!!

    GL with it!

Servers all screwed up, but I did DL a new version to Atlas Loot that was released 4 days ago but I still had the framerate drop... I logged out shut atlas loot off, logged back in and problem was gone and didn't come back...

I wanna try again tomorrow without atlas loot running at all and see the the problem happens again.. If not then I feel safe to say that Atlas Loot is giving us our problems..

Get a temp monitor program, HWmonitor is good, and see how your temps layout, if they stay hihg it is your prob they do underclock, if your temps get hot fast and stay high call dell and let them know, they will help you out.

I still had issues with Atlas loot shut off.. So I am running out of addons to limit it to

It has to be the addons cause I never have the problem with all of them shut off.
