    Hello,

    I got a XPS 17 (L702X) a few weeks ago and installed a Vertex3 120GB as a master drive with the 500gb as a second drive.

Windows 7 home premium full install.
    Works fine.
Updated all drivers and BIOS was on A14 from factory and i just reflashed because I am trying to solve why i can't wake up from long sunspensions or hibernation or even turn off the computer without taking out the battery for 10 secs.

The Vertex3 is not detected on BIOS and can't reboot Windows.

When I take out the battery everythings go fine again.

I was trying to find someone else with the same problem but i could only find similar and just tryed their solutions.

Any ideas on why the SSD is not detected by the XPS 17 after a long turn off? If I just turn off the PC and turn it on again (not reset) in a few seconds. nothing hapends. It alwais happends when I come back from work, or something like that, and the pc is off.

    Thanks in advance

I'll just tried with the A14 reflashed BIOS and still the same behavior. I will try to flash it with the A12 from Dell.

My new computer seems to be like an old car :(

Now I find out that taking out the battery doesn't help.

I tried several times and the error still remains.

It finnaly turn on when I leave the pc on on BIOS (showing me no fixed disc installed) and a few minutes later (now with some temperature on the system) i turned off (without taking out the battery) and turned on again, and thats it O_O

Could be only a problem of the disk and SATA controler with low temperature?

Well if i have this correct

If the laptop is powered on and you reboot you see the vertex no problem.

If you power off for a time, then power on You don't see the Vertex ?

if so I may suspect the Vertex SSD could be the problem.

What Firmware revision is your Vertex Drive ?

on the end of the SSD drive where the Sata cable connects there is set of LEDs if your getting a Red one it indicates a SSD issue.

I know your using a laptop, but you may want to test the SSD Drive on a Desktop or via external Sata if you can.

    Thank for your answer Dave.

You are wright. That is the problem. I have to add now, that when in turn on from a long time being off, i just need to wait a few seconds on the BIOS (just to get temperature?) and turn off again to resolve the problem now. Then I can start again with no problem.

Seems to have 2.15 firmare but i haven't test it on other sata controler. I will try with an old external sata adaptor (not SATA III).

Definitely a SSD issue. I've got the same drive in my XPS 17, and after I swapped out the SATA Drivers to the Intel RST Enterprise drivers, I haven't had any issues.
