just got my new XPS 1530 yesterday......the screen looks amazing....however, I had few qs:

The sound is too shallow or low. My earlier lappy HP compaq 2200 series had much better sound. Is there any way to increase the sound output?I like to watch a lot of media and listen songs,so I need it......

I do not want to reformat or reinstall vista as I am a novice and I have fear of messing things up....are there any programs pre-installed that are considered uselss that I can uninstall without messing stuff up?......

Any other suggestions of things to be done when you receive new XPS....thanks a lot

btw,i didnt get any earbuds, cloth etc and will call today about that....

Hmm I never got that, then again mine was refurbished :/

I don't think you can without amplifying each files sound waves tbh... but thats from personal experience. I'm sure that theres an app out there that someone will link you to...!!

sound: think thats what you get
reformat: not much preinstalled... maybe get rid of Roxio, possibly Office Trial(mine didnt come with one)

things to do: nothing much except install ur own programs

the xps m1530 has some weak speakers- nothing much you can do that wouldn't distort or lower quality of speakers besides getting a nice set of headphones :).

And you may be a novice- but as long as you have a cd version of the programs you may have purchased from Dell your ok.

Just print out the guide les made (and there is a picture guide in there as well).

Also get a usb jump drive and put the driver they tell you to on it.

Then as long as you follow the steps, put the usb in, insert your driver disk dell gave you and load up- your good. The picture guide literally has almost every screen you'll see. :) and if you mess up start over, no harm done. Trust me it is worth it.

*Check to make sure all screws are there- check your screen for light bleeding (try just previewing blank as a screen saver and look for bright spots on the black screen). Make sure there isnt a bulge in your keyboard and that every port is working. If you want you can download HWmonitor (google it) and watch your temps of your CPU 1&2 as well as your graphics cpu.

*Also call dell and just say you know other individuals got the freebies- ask for the headphones and a $100 gift card (better deal :) )

good luck and if you have any other questions just ask.

theres a laptop bundle on dell's epp site that has a targus laptop cooler and portable speakers for 79.99. Pretty good with the $75 coupon :). Although I got a sweet wireless mouse that was normally 125 for $79. :p

You can't get those accessories unless you have them in your order number. They will check and they will turn you down if you dont have them.

    I tried today, didnt work.
