An excellent article. Color calibration can be really tricky, in some cases the only way to build a good color profile is with calibration software/devices. Some monitors simply do not have good color fidelity.

    I agree.
But the Sharp seem to be good in this chapter.
Actually, they can all be calibrated, but it takes patience and honestly, for the ammount of money involved...we shouldn`t have to do it.

I agree... It drives me crazy when some people don't realize why features such as color gamut matters. They look at LCD's and don't understand the reasoning for the pricing differences. Now sometimes these differences are acceptable and not worth the cost.

I will say that color calibration has come a long way from looking at color swatches to actual software and hardware tools that can aid you.

It is still an expensive and time consuming process. Largely reserved for photographer/artists. Nothing like sending your files only to realize it's completely worthless because it's not calibrated to the proper standards.

Yes it has come a long way -- 50 bucks and you can get a spider and make a considerable improvement over stock.

eye one is way better than spyder imo... and the lg simply can not be calibrated for this model.. its to far off trust me ive tried for hours to get it right no ever going to happen. you can get it kinda nice but its not going to look like the sharp or the samsung but the lg is brighter and has no grain to it. the sharp and sammy are very grainy

I never could get the picture I wanted with the LG either. Just wasnt there.
The Samsung looks great. I really dont care about the brightness.

If you still are within the 21 days return and try to get a different screen.
Or I would get with Support and arrange to get a different screen installed.

Generally I've been very disappointed with color calibration on laptops. My brother has a Inspiron 1720 and the colors are absolutely stunning after calibration. I have the samsung lcd but I have yet to be able to appreciate it. My m1730 has spent most of the time in pieces due to media direct and incompetent dell technical support.

"**** thee, I **** thee media direct to the depths of hell!"

Laptops tend to have a lot of light leakage and inconsistant color temperature.

Personally I've always spent more to get samsung monitors ... the last monitor I purchased was dell 24" which is just stunning for the price I laid down for it.
