    has anyone been through this, do you think ill get another defective 8600 m ?

    and dell is replacing my mobo because it wont charge my battery.

    NO. You'll get another 8600M GT, _M1530 was never (and never will be ) sold with a 9600M GT, Only options available for it are Intel X3100, 8400M GS and 8600M GT.

    either
    1) dell makes a m1530 motherboard with a 9600M GT
    2) your whole system fails and dell exchanges the system with the newer version of the 15".... might happen in 4 years when they stop making the m1530

    All you can hope is that the GPU won't die anytime too soon. Or after warranty ends...
