just wondering if anyone has opened up there studio xps 16 and seen if it has a second hard drive bay as i would like a bit of raid action or a ssd to compliment my 500gb drive but i doubt it has the additional bay and i cant be bothered taking all those screws out :)

    Not possible for 2 reasons:

    1)No room for a 2nd HDD

2)No RAID controller for RAID array

Well, the intel storage controller doesn't automatically support raid - it has to have the controller as well.

Besides, my first point is the most important. Why don't you go ahead and open up the bottom and see for yourself?

it's really easy. In fact, you probably could have done it quicker than asking your original question on this thread!

i already said i couldnt be bothered taking the machine apart, i have no need as the thing is maxed to the hilt , only time i ever opened my machines was to do upgrades which with this laptop i should be ok for a while

failing that i will wait and see how the mini pcie ssd's progress but their size and speeds arent worth it for me just now , thats if it can even boot from the pcie slot
