Have you tried installing a newer driver on top of this? Just to see if the new driver shows up? then you would have the option to roll back just in case, or leave it like that till u figure out how to uninstall the current driver *completely*.. I have no idea.. for me whenever I uninstalled one, it did it completely...

Or probably there is no temp driver in the os which the system can rely on while u uninstall / reinstall??? I don't know...

CD/DVD drivers are part of the windows OS. This is why it 'wont go away'. Its installed by default as soon as the Device Manager sees it.

You can update the firmware if a patch is available from Dell - check your m1530 support/drivers page @ support.dell.com.

Why are you trying to replace the driver anyway? Is there a problem with the drive?

Try this page. Go to the device drop down list and click on your drive. The next page will have the the appropriate driver download if your device is listed. Good luck.

Which model of drive do you have in the 1530? From what I can see, the 1530 only has the Optiarc AD-7640A listed on the 1530's support page. If in fact it is the Optiarc, try the firmware update they list. The problem you describe is a firmware issue and not a driver issue.

And where they burned with DLA enabled? If so enable DLA & you should be GTG.

Well, what TEAC drive do you have? Look in the Device Manager to find this and post back.

See if this firmware update will recognize your drive...

    http://support.us.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&releaseid=R190288&formatcnt=1&libid=0&fileid=261397

If the read issue is still present after updating, call Dell Support and request a replacement drive be sent out. They are pretty good about this. Just explain that the drive does not recognize your DVD/CDR media.

Yep, at this point I would give them a ring anyway and ask for assistance. They might be able to point you in the right direction. From what I found, the update I mentioned earlier is the only one close to your drive. I was hoping it would cover your model as well.

I feel your pain on the issue as I ran into a similar problem with another drive. They ended up replacing the DVD Drive two times with different make/model.

    Sorry I couldn't assist further...

sly: see if this one will work - released on 9/18 for the dv28. Never know, your drive might accept it. worth trying.
