i am having problems with my optical drive so i decided to uninstall the driver and try a newer one but whenever i uninstall the driver and restart windows it appears again in the device manager. how can i get it to go away??
-
Have you tried installing a newer driver on top of this? Just to see if the new driver shows up? then you would have the option to roll back just in case, or leave it like that till u figure out how to uninstall the current driver *completely*.. I have no idea.. for me whenever I uninstalled one, it did it completely...
Or probably there is no temp driver in the os which the system can rely on while u uninstall / reinstall??? I don't know... -
Try safe mode.

does someone know where i can find some teac drivers for the drive. i looked at the teac website and dell.com and havnt found anything
-
CD/DVD drivers are part of the windows OS. This is why it 'wont go away'. Its installed by default as soon as the Device Manager sees it.
You can update the firmware if a patch is available from Dell - check your m1530 support/drivers page @ support.dell.com.
Why are you trying to replace the driver anyway? Is there a problem with the drive? -
Try this page. Go to the device drop down list and click on your drive. The next page will have the the appropriate driver download if your device is listed. Good luck.

yeah the drive was giving me a lot of problems like saying all cd rs were empty even though i had burned them myself and used them on the laptop earlier.

thats the problem i cant request a change cause i am not in the usa at the moment and there is no dell store here. so im hoping the firmware update fixes it.
thank you for all your help. -
this update is not for the xps and it doesnt recognize my drive cause its for the dv28e model while mine is the dv28slc
-
Yep, at this point I would give them a ring anyway and ask for assistance. They might be able to point you in the right direction. From what I found, the update I mentioned earlier is the only one close to your drive. I was hoping it would cover your model as well.
I feel your pain on the issue as I ran into a similar problem with another drive. They ended up replacing the DVD Drive two times with different make/model.
Sorry I couldn't assist further... -
sly: see if this one will work - released on 9/18 for the dv28. Never know, your drive might accept it. worth trying.
driver doesnt go away!!!
