The system is far more than enough for the things you have mentioned. But if you are like me and can not afford a laptop every year I highly recommend going for more powerful GPU which in this case will be 8600m and a 9 cell battery.

Meh... if the OP doesn't intend to do any heavy gaming (my interpretation of the post is that he emphasizes basic functionality), I don't see any reason why he should get the 8600M GT over the 8400M GS, it'll just be dumping more heat and eating more battery life. Same goes for the 9-cell battery; if he doesn't need the capacity, he'll just be gaining weight.

My system is very similar..(except I went with both the 9 cell and 6 cell, as it was a better deal at the time of purchase). ;)

The 9 cell I use at home, and the 6 cell when out-and-about! The 9 cell is nice, it tilts the back a little bit ~ which allows for venting ;) :)

My spec's in my lappy are probably more than I need, but work well for me ~ just the same ;) :)

    Just my opinion though!!!

    Congrat's on your purchase ;) :)
