I can get the following from an ebay store brand new with warranty for 780 pounds. The reviews for the store are all great. There are several around this price. Its not refurbished. This appears to be a great deal. Any advice here. The laptop iteslf seems very well spec'd.Some have a bigger hard drive and some have only 1 gb video card. External drives are cheap so a bigger gpu is probably better

I am moving this to the Dell XPS forum where you can get more views.

If you can, opt for the FHD B+RGLED 1080p screen for the XPS 17. Really isn't an option. :p

RE: RAM on the GPU. It is a joke, none of the 5xxm cards are powerful enough to utilize 1GB, or at least not much more than that. That said, the 555m is a pretty strong card, especially for one that can work with the Optimus. Highly recommended card.

I had the 900p display for a while on the system I returned and it was decent. Not amazing, but very serviceable.

that is a brilliant price.I dont know why more people dont do this.A small scratch and 200 pound plus in your pocket. As long as the warranties are the same. I think people have gone cosmetic mad. Thanks for the update.

A minor scratch is alot of the reason why people return laptops besides not liking it. One person's misfortune is another's treasure,
