    dell xps 9560 service tag change

    Hi all

    I replaced motorboard in dell xps 9560, i been trying change service/express tag but without any luck , only, i changed asset tag

    I been try SVCTAG 3.4- where was error 2- this system is not supported by this utility

    also i been going through tutorial from youtobe ---> Change / Remove Asset Tag - Service Tag on Dell PCs or laptops

    asset tag been changed

    but with asset /s is problem as below



    DIAG c:/UTIL asset/s XXXXXXX ASSET -- version 2.09 (C) Copyright 1993-2014
    Dell Inc About to change service tag. Are you sure? Y,nly
    Error:Cannot change service tag Please ensure the tag is correct format, And the SETUP password is disabled
    any ideas how I can change that

    SVCTAG 5.1 ?

    It isn't stored in the BIOS chip, only Dell can reset them and not even the onsite techs as they removed the program from the diagnostics hence the tool being nearly a decade old.
    In all my years doing this only Toshiba allowed us to have the software to program the serial number in, refurb boards arrive with no tag/serial and it has to be input when it 1st boots or it won't go off the setup screen.
