Oh how I love dell. They used to be a reliable company, now they are horrible.

So the xps keyboard has this problem. About every three months the keys 6 7 y u h j n m keys stop working.

i am having dell fix install my third keyboard in 6 months. the third!!!

if you are wondering why my post looks like a first grader wrote it, its because i had to use the on screen keyboard to write it.

Dell of course added insult to injury by charging me 240 to have them come on site to fix it.

Dell service is horrible. They are dishonest and could care less about their customers.

dont buy an xps laptop ever!!

Same thing happened to me. Weird enough, same keys. I wonder if there's something wrong on the production process of some keyboards.

However, I didn't got charged at all and they came pretty quickly. So I don't think dell's service is that bad. Although the whole rep thing on the website + phone reps are a complete waste of time.

must be a partical strand of the cable that works its way out, or gets blocked - maybe dust or something internal that gets in the way,

Same thing has happened to me. I'm on my third keyboard! Absolutely ridiculous. I made sure they came and fixed it for free though by getting escalated on customer service and being overall pissed about it.

    CTierney,
Sorry for all your troubles you had with your keyboard.

Why did Dell charge you $240 to come OnSite to fix your keyboard? The 1647 is fairly newish. Didn't you have a warranty?

Usually, if you have Complete Care/Onsite there is "no charge" for the Technician to come to your Home/Work to repair the Keyboard. Unless, you didn't have OnSite, and you paid extra for Dell to send the Tech' to come and repair for you?

Or, they would send you the keyboard w/instructions on how to replace yourself.
