I just got my new dell xps 1530 yesterday and it also came with the expresscard travel remote. The book said that once you put the remote into the slot that it will detect it. However, mine never detected it. Are there any drivers or software i can install to get the remote to work?

    thank you

Hi there, i have an M1530 also, and nothing happens when i place the remote into the express card slot!

    It is fully functional however...

The remote itself does not communicate in any way through the express card slot, it just lives in there for convenience.

The remote communicates with your laptop through infra-red, there is an IR reciever just to the left of the headphone jacks, sitting behind the glossy black panel.

Does your remote work with programs on your computer? try it out with windows media player or something and let us know!

I have never been aware that the remote needs to be "detected", with me it was always just worked.

Same here.. it just works. No configuration or detection of any sort required. If it's not working, try checking the batteries.

    yes.. left/right works

bad thing about "just works" is that anyone with the same remote can turn ur dell's sound up/down

you can configure various applications to use the remote. I know for example with winamp, there is a setting you have to go through for the remote to work in winamp.

Your remote isn't suppose to be "detected" when you insert it in the express-card slot. Look at it, there are no contacts of any kind on the remote! :)

It should work, however, when you take it out and try to navigate. So from the sounds of it, looks like everything is working as designed on your end.
