i am getting a upgrade from dell because my Studio xps 1645 keeps on overheating, but they are bumping my screen down from 1080p to 720p, which i feel is like a huge downgrade.

my specs for the studio xps is

    i7 820qm
    8 gigs ram
    ati 5730m
    blu-ray drive
    500 gigs hard drive

    they offered me

the system they offered is not new but refurbished and i also found some on the dell outlet store that has the 1080p screen with the same specs but for some reason they cant give me that one. also i asked if for the 15z but they said since it doesnt have blu-ray they can not offer it to me.

is there anything i can do to get the 1080p screen or a model with a 1080p screen

Complain complain complain. That usually gets you the best results from a csr. Is your laptop still under warranty?

Dude, give me their number I will curse them out until they end up sending you two computers. Don't let customer service play you. I just got my girlfriends computer that was out of warranty repaired from hp for a non warranty related issue. They eventually give in if you make a big enough stink.

If they shoot you down just hang up and call back. Eventually someone will be reasonable. As a last resort tell them you will sue to honor and fulfill the requirements of your warranty.

Dell's policy is equal or better specs. A smaller resolution screen is neither. Keep pushing, that ain't right dude.

There is the executive support email, I can't find it at the moment though. It's posted here from time to time, or you can Google for it. Tends to get a better resolution.
