hey everyone, just ordered myself a xps 15 with the following specs...

    i7 2630QM 2.0ghz
    6gb ram
    GT540M 2GB
    Blu Ray Drive
    1080p screen
    backlit keyboard
    750gb hardrive.

just a couple of quick questions if anyone can assist.

    1) what amp rating is the power supply as i am not sure where i am going to plug it in at the moment.
    2) the current estimated delivery is the 20th September, the laptop was ordered last Friday but i am off next week so was hoping it would be delivered by the 16th. How accurate are there delivery times? do you think by the 16th is possible?

    thanks in advance.

from an excited future xps owner

For the first question, I have no idea lol but for the delivery it depends where are you located.. for me I was in Canada and my laptop was supposed to be delivered today but I got it a week ago.. basically it took 4 days to build it and it was customized since I have added another cpu and other options.

Well my power supply, a 150W versus the 130W you will be getting, says 2.5A at 120V on it. So not too much current, we aren't talking 10A here.

As for delivery date, well, it depends on where yours ships from. I am in the US, and Dell allotted a week to ship to me in their delivery estimate, but it shipped from a location such that it got to me the day after they shipped it (New Jersey -> Boston area). Not sure where the UK ship from though, I don't believe Dell has build spots in-country. There is a chance for you, sure. Just don't count on it, lol.

that deal does not exist on the uk site, i ordered last Thursday night. It costs and extra £160 for the 2670QM and im sure the 2630 will be plenty fast enough for me as my current top end machine is 3.06GHz core 2 imac.

No, the only system that gets the 150W is the 17" with the 555m graphics card, all the rest get a 130W.

You will be fine. Don't mind Alinad. The 2670 is only a tiny bit faster, not worth the upgrade price. And the 2630 isn't exactly old, it's only been available for 6 months...and a very capable processor at that.

That's what I thought, this computer is allot more powerfull than anything else I own, hoping it's capable of a little light gaming.

Light gaming, no sweat. Heavy gaming, no. But it will play most anything on medium settings reasonably. GPU is your limit there, definitely not the CPU.
