Saw this banner on the Dell Canada site today...never seen that design before, so I'm wondering...
Also, on the site, when you have the option of choosing between the m1330, m1530 and the m1730, under the m1530 there was no stating price, instead there was a note stating (in red by the way): please call for the current price options (or something to that effect)... I checked the US site, but there everything was as usual, and then when I came back to the Canadian site, that message was gone, and replaced with the usual starting price...

what do you make of this...

That's the top of the M1730. Not sure why they paired it with the M1530 front view, unless they are moving the M1730 style lid to the others.

I predict 24th July is when the centrino 2 Dell's will go on sale ;) They will probably cost more though than the current XPS prices.

I knew it was a waste of time but tried asking a few Dell Reps today and got the standard response. Just tried asking some of them why are Dell behind all the other major brands lolz. Knew i'd get the standard response though.

When attempting to buy the 1530 I have consistently been told their best price is whats on the website, so I decided to leave it if they aren't able to offer a discount when the new tech is already out from others. I don't even need the Centrino 2 features but i'm also not in a rush for a new laptop. Want one around mid september at the latest though.

They aren't really behind because everyone else is setting theirs up for pre-order. Dell doesn't do pre-order releases.

Maybe they purposely did that so that someone would bring it up on Notebook review and critique it and say whether it would be cool or not. Well, you know how we feel Dell. :)

So they may not make any announcements until the XPS models are ready to ship, maybe next month based on Sony's mid-August shipping estimate for models like the new Z. Then again, I think I recall an earlier shipping date for another Centrino 2 model from Sony so maybe Dell will make an announcement as early as next week.

It'll probably be like the Studio release, one day they just show up. And since there haven't been any rumors or leaks I would venture to guess it won't be new models rather just putting new stuff in the current line.
