Ok so just out of the blue my screen decided it wanted to spaz on me. I'm really not looking forward to replacing it cause its obnoxiously expensive. i might as well get a whole working unit rather than replace the screen :/ but if i have to replace it i want to make sure it fixes the problem.

so it started doing this yesterday.. which you can see below. i could tap the side or bottom of the monitor and it would go back to normal. now just a day after that started. it will remain like this all the time. that is unless i hold the back corner of the case and press quite forcefully on the bottom left corner of the screen. it only works in this spot. nowhere else. also even when i do that you can faintly see there still is a remaining faint line going through the screen. Any guesses as to whats going on here. i'm almost certain i'll have to replace the screen, but i want to be sure thats the problem. Also, i disassembled the display and removed the screen from its housing entirely to try and find something amiss, and nothing was out of the ordinary. even holding the screen in my hand if i held the back of it and pressed down on the corner it would go back to normal, which again leads me to believe the screen is fubared. :(

ninja edit: excellent. it wont let me add pictures yet. just add "http" to the beginning of the links.

what a deal, i have sold used screens for 250 before so i would jump on that.

sounds like something inside your display is coming disconnected and it probably isn't repairable if the ribbon cable is secure, but check where it plugs into the gpu too if you haven't.

yea pretty much everywhere that theres a connection i was checking and nothing seems amiss. and i watched the screen in its sad state as i was checking these things. and as i messed with the wires and connections it didnt affect it one bit. i could hold the screen in my hand outside of the case and still be able to push in on the one corner of the screen and it would make it return to normal. Now however when i do this there are still like 3 lines which remain that go completely from the left to the right side of the screen. so i'm thinking its toast :(

zfactor: you say you have a screen for sale? $150 is a good deal, but i imagine its the 1440x900 model huh, not the 1920x1200 wuxga screen that i have..
