    Hi guys,
just wondering if a CPU Intel core 2 extreme x9000 2.8ghz ,socket 478, 6mb L2, FSB 800 could fit into my 1730 (see below)
I could call a technician to install it... my question is what else should I change?
I trust you so before spending one cent I want to be sure this is feasable!

    THANKS a lot guys

Thanks guys, but seriously.. the cpu upgrade is it feasable?
And if it is so, (I have no idea, it's clear) would I be able to install it by my self? I say so because I saw a video explaining how to change the GPU, and this is something I can do by myself..but the CPU???
    Thanks once again!

X9000 is compatible with DELL XPS M1730 its the top of the line cpu that you can get with it. As for upgrading cpu i think it is possible but doing it yourself wont be easy without a guide or tutorial better to let tech do it.

Yup,let the technician do the upgrade.
I would get some 7200 /320 gb hdds, RAID their asses and with the 8800M GTX SLI and the X9000,there will no game standing in your way... :)

Wow you can upgrade graphics in the M1730? That's pretty cool. Shame theres no way to upgrade other non-gaming XPS's GPU-wise lol.

What is the NET NET of your upgrades? I would seriously consider looking at the Outlet where for around 3K you can get a Full up 1730. One was posted the other day for 3.1K and it had 8800GTX, 2 360's, X9, 4GB etc....

How much are you paying to upgrade everything?
Last I looked the 8800GTX's were in the 900 range, the X9's - how much? then add HD's etc... and you might be better off buying a full up outlet box and selling your current 1730 - just an Idea...
