My beloved XPS 1645 recently had an accident - i spilled stuff on it that reached the motherboard.

I thoroughly cleaned everything (including the motherboard) with distilled water and denatured alcohol, and aired it out for 3 days.

I powered it up without the battery, and it worked great.

Then I tried to power it up with the battery in. It got to the Dell welcome screen, froze, and started beeping non-stop. I tried to power it up again with the battery in, and the power cord attached - the result was the same (freezes/beeps).

What could possibly be the problem? The battery wasn't involved in the accident - it stayed completely dry.

Thanks in advance! I'm grateful the computer works with the power cord attached, but I'd like to be able to use the battery at some point again :)
