My XPS1530 will be 2 years old this coming June 2010 and I don’t have warranty anymore since last year but planning to get soon. Since I just bought Vaio F Series (aside from defective wireless adapter, Vaio F series Monitor is sucks! That’s why I’m keeping my precious XPS :) and returning the Vaio) I have 2options of Next Business Day In-Home Service after Remote Diagnosis Plus Nights and Weekends:

    Option 1 (1year): $217.24
    Option 2 (2years): $336.14

Given the fact that XPS1530 have NVIDIA problem and after buying Vaio F Series (returning to Best Buy today), I’m planning to cash out for my XPS warranty…is that warranty price worth it or just look for new laptop and sell my XPS (sell because of NVIDIA issue)? Your advise and experience with XPS1530 is highly appreciated.

    XPS Boy,
Honestly, I would not put any more money into the 1530.
After having my 1530 for 2 years (and enjoying it ever so)...due to several GPU fails ~ I am finally receiving my new replacement today..a XPS 1640.

I would use your 1530 til your warranty is complete in June/2010, as you will still have the extended one year on the Nvidia GPU. And, in the meantime save up for a new, up-to-date, and "fail safe" lappy! :) Then, you can do what you need to do with your 1530 "sell it" or what not.

I can't remember, have you have any GPU problems at all?

Put that $300/+ towards something better going forward! ;)

    Cin...

On the flip side, if you extend the warranty and the M1530 dies, you might have just gotten a new SXPS 16 on the cheap...

But I think on the whole I'd agree with Cin and get the M1530 off your hands, possibly even a little before the warranty's over.

    thanks for the input!

I didn't have any GPU problem (for now), but 1530 is really hot. If not for the cooler I think my GPU might burn.

Can I complain the GPU issue to dell now and ask for upgrade and just pay the additional cost?

Very, very doubtful that they'd let you do that. Maybe if you've had two or three GPU failures already, but not if you've had no problems for a year or two.
