I just ordered a the XPS 1530 dell with the 1920 x 1200 resolution. Is this going to make my text unbearably small since its a 15.4" screen? Does anyone have this LCD type and if so, what are your opinions?

I personally have a 1600X1050 screen and i love how sharp and clear it is with 1920X1200 it will be great to what movies on (HD :D :D ) but web page text ect will be hard to read i find it bearable on mine but i normally lie on the ground so i am quite close to the screen. ied say anymore then 2 feet and it gets hard to read if you sit it on your desk i may sugest an external monitor.

But really overall you will be amazed when you seen how sharp the colours are and its seemingly perfect brightness.

    Hope that helped cheers.

My 24" Dell monitor uses 1920x1200 and is perfect. I think you're going to wish, down the line, that you'd chosen the 1440x900 option. Is the 1530 not available with 1600x1050? That would be as high a resolution as I personally would order on a 15" machine, but I'm old and you've probably got much better eyesight. LOL

    Good luck.

That's a tough one. I have the 1680x1050, and I was worried that it might be too small. Turns out I like it just fine. But 1920 x 1200? Geez, I know a lot of guys here say it's great, but that seems like just too much for 15.4 inches. If I were making the call, I'd say 1440x900 over 1920 x 1200 uness you really have something that requires such a high resolution.

I Say plug in the extra 50$ and get an LED 1440. I think 1900 is too much.

I have the 1920x1200, if your sitting within two feet of the monitor you'll have no problems reading it. It's really sharp, and crystal clear looking like your looking through glass. Text looks really crisp and perfect like in a magazine. I love it. You'd be crazy to settle for 1440x900, it gives you very little room to work with.

you would not want to get the 1920x1200. tho you get a lot of desktop space, you will have problems reading the screen... 12pt from that res looks like 6-7 on a 1440x900

side note: too bad the 1680x1050 resolution is only avaliable on the 1525

i have the 1680x1050..its perfect..very crisp...any smaller and ill need new eye prescription every 6 months. If you like to lounge back in your seat while on the computer..i would consider LED instead.

I ordered the WSXGA+ right before they removed the option..i know that the small business site offered it longer..im not sure if they removed it as well

The WSXGA+ display was removed because they had the biggest issues with graininess on that screen. Anyway, from what I have read from the majority of the people that actually have the WUXGA (1920x1200) it's great. It takes some getting used to but as long as you sit up with your computer it's not hard to read. If you do get the WUXGA and you decide it is difficult to read, Windows has the wonderful DPI scaling which will adjust all text and icons on your screen, but leave images the same...and it looks clean. I just bumped up the DPI to 120 on my 20" 1680x1050 (not that I need it AT ALL, I just wanted to see how it looks) and it is very crisp. Much, much different than lowering the resolution.

I ordered the 1920 and after reading these forums I started to worry. I received it last night and let me say that I am so glad I did not switch. I have absolutely no problems reading text and everything looks very sharp and the real estate is amazing. I also have a Blu-Ray player and having the ability to watch movies in Full HD is nice as well.

Ok i'm beginning to think that the only reason they put that option on this laptop is for the blu ray player? What you think? Is this resolution better for games? Is the 1920 option useless with no blu ray player? And can someone post a picture using "prt sc" button?

There's no point taking a screenshot with prt sc. When the image is displayed on your computer it will use the native resolution and everything will look the same as on your current display. That's why camera shots have to be taken to see what an HD screen looks like. Yes, it really is there primarily for the blu ray player, but it does make everything cleaner and crisper. If you have the same size screen with more pixels, then it can better add detail to each image. Is it useless with a blu ray player? No, not really...not if you want the extra space. Is it better for games? Games from the mid-90s and early 2000's, probably. But any recent game will completely choke on that resolution. The good thing is that, for the most part, you can change the resolution of your games to something much lower and it'll still look great and play well too.

Hmm ... I just got my xps 1530 delivered, been using it since whole day, I replaced it with the XPS 1530 1280x800 and by god this is a good display res to work with, I wish I had gone higher.

I had CPT on my previous 1280 res screen and this current one was shipped with LG screen with 1440 res. I should add though, this new screen is a lil bit grainier than the CPT one which I had although it was jus 1280 res.
But it has served the pupose for me, its not that bad....
