    Hi there,

I own an XPS1330 (bought a few years ago) which has an Nvidia 8400M GS in it.

I have just hooked it up to my monitor via VGA which has a native resolution of 1400x1050. However, the maximum resolution that Windows can see (Vista x64) is 1280x1024.

I thought this might be a driver issue, so I used PowerStrip to generate a custom driver. It was able to scan the monitor and saw that it had a native res of 1400x1050.

However, even after installing the custom driver Windows can only got to 1280x1024.

I then checked the 'List all modes' option in the display settings and the max mode does seem to be this on the actual graphics card.

Can anyone confirm that this is the max res the card can actually handle?

    Thanks in advance.

I have an M133O using Vista x64 and run both the HDMI and VGA outputs at 1920x1080 and 1920x1200. Simultaneously (one of each).

I suggest that, perhaps, you should download the (real) monitor driver for your monitor.

    Hi there,

    Thanks for confirming that.

The problem I have is that my monitor does not come with a monitor driver. In the manual it talks about it being VESA compliant or something and that the graphics card should detect all settings automatically.

What is strange about this is that if I go into the advanced display settings and click on 'List all modes' the highest is 1280x1024 - which is saying the graphics card can only go that high. At least that's how I read it, regardless of monitor driver.

Have you also got a 128MB Nvidia 8400M GS in you 1330?
