It's been a full year since the m2010 was first released, and while it's still passable for a middle-high end computer, it's about time it started a good update.

I would definately buy it if it had two things:
    - A 1920x1200 monitor (how does the current 1680x1050 monitor even take a blu-ray drive and claim it's full 1080p? Can anyone explain that for me?)
    - A DX10 video card

Any word if these will ever become available in the near future?

    Thanks.

As with most things, it's probably more a question of "when" than "if".

So you think it is in the near future?

    I just bought mine!

I don't care about high resolution screens because they are all but useless. My 19 inch monitor is running 1280x1024 and that is perfect. If you gave me an option of 1920 x 1200 in the XPS m2010, I wouldn't even take it. Same reason I wouldn't take 1920x1200 in a 17 inch if they had 1400x900, games would NOT well run at your native, and well wasn't that the point you spent all that money on?

As for the graphics card, I don't play games so I don't care about DX10. It drives Vista well and thats all that matters to me. I guess if your a gamer, you should be looking at the stronger XPS m1710 or Alienwares. Drop your resolutions, AA/AF and eye candy lower and you'll still go strong at 30+ fps in all the current games.

Bluray... hah right... maybe when it costs $50/ drive instead of $500? 1680x1050 vs 1920x1200... how much difference could you tell in a movie? Probably not much. 1080p runs at 1920x1080 anyway. To get the ratio right, you'll be running close to 1050... so no problems there.
