    Hey all,

With the laptop's arrival on the horizon, I was wondering what programs, drivers, etc. I should install upon recieving my laptop.

some general topics that i'd like to get some info on are:
-Graphics card drivers for the 8600, which one is better?
-Reinstall Vista/Leave it in stock condition?
-How should I handle the battery? Charge it fully and store it somewhere? I think I've seen something about leaving it at 40%..
-What is DivX 10 and should I install it?

If you have any other advice to give me on how to set-up my laptop for optimum performance, please post it here! Thanks.

-600m GT is better than th e8400m GS
-Yes do a clean install always reccomended unless its a buisness notebook.
-You could just leave it in the battery bay even if its plugged in unless 9cell and your using a cooler
-DivX 10 is a video codec

    1) You want the 174.31 drivers, available here:
    ftp://ftp.us.dell.com/video/R180763.exe

    2) I would follow Les' guide stickied at the top to cleanout the machine.

    3) If you aren't going to use the battery, charge it fully and then store it somewhere cool.

    4) I don't know what DivX10 is, but I'm guessing you mean DirectX 10. You don't install it, because it's part of Vista so it's automatically on the system.
