I've done several searches of this forum, and have not found anything relating to my problem, so I though I'd post my issue.

I've just installed a Bluetooth adapter (P/N: UG748) in my M1730. After Windows 7 (x64) loaded, it installed the Bluetooth drivers as usual, and I was expecting it to work... but I was wrong.

What really happened was this: Windows does not recognize the device as a Bluetooth adapter. Instead, Device Manager just displays it as a USB Input Device and a USB Composite Device. There are NO Bluetooth listings in Device Manager whatsoever. All the Bluetooth services are running, and the Bluetooth LED is flashing (sometimes stays lit) so the laptop itself must know what it is, but Windows doesn't.

Also what happens is kinda weird... it STOPS me from browsing the internet. Yep, it will often stop the M1730 from seeing my router (wirelessly), or if it DOES connect, websites just time out. After about 3 attempts, the webpage will load, but if I click on a link... it times out again. However, pinging works just fine.

I've downloaded and installed the TrueMobile 355 driver from the Dell website, but that didn't work. All that happens is I get a message to turn on the Bluetooth Radio using Fn+F2, but that doesn't do anything... and nor does using the Wi-Fi switch. To be honest, I don't think this particular Bluetooth adapter even IS a TrueMobile 335. I've tried reinstalling all the chipset drivers as well... but.. nope.

I can install the Bluetooth software using the separate Setup.exe in the Win64 folder in the downloaded Bluetooth driver, but again... this does nothing at all.

So, yeah.. that's what is happening. I cannot installed the adapter, Windows doesn't recognize it AND it pretty much stops me from browsing the internet.

Is anyone else having this problem? In particular with this model of Bluetooth adapter? I may just try and get an ACTUAL TM355 adapter, or maybe just a mini USB Bluetooth dongle... it ould be far easier.

Any help will be greatly appreciated :)

Try Driver Genius, on my M1330, everything, i mean EVERYTHING was detected, just be forewarned though, the XPS's bluetooth is also in an HP or another branded model (still works just fine). Try downloading it and giving it a try (you have to pay for it however). If you'd like, I have the full driver list and can upload it via rapidshare.

Thanks for the idea. I got a hold of a copy of Driver Genius and ran it. It found several out of date drivers. So I downloaded and installed them, but none of them were Bluetooth drivers.

Since the Chipset was an updated driver, I restarted the laptop and ran it again, thinking that the updated Chipset drivers will have helped, but it didn't.

I still haven't been able to install the Bluetooth adapter, and it still stops access to the internet 50% of the time.

If you don't mind uploading the full driver list, please do.. it may help.

Sure thing! I hope you don't mind waiting, my fiance's laptop is out of comission due to a broken fan (HP Laptop), so she's using my Dell M1330 for temporary. I will upload the driver for the bluetooth first chance I get if that will help you.

Have you considered disabling the bluetooth driver in the laptop? inside device manager? To see if that stops your 50% internet access problem.

    I don't mind waiting, thanks.

Well, disabling the Bluetooth WOULD work, if there was any Bluetooth listing in the Device Manager. Since Windows doesn't detect it correctly, it gets listed as a USB Input Device and a USB Composite Device.. no Bluetooth devices at all.

I'll try disabling the USB Input/Composite Device entries and see what happens.

i'm a retard trueblue, there is an application, that lets you ENABLE the bluetooth..... my gawd am i stupid, let me pull this up for you.

I should of read more deeply into your post. You are having problems installing the bluetooth software PERIOD.

Here's is one link (to the driver for my XPS M1330).

Drivers and Downloads | Dell [United States]

That's not what you use yet though.

Drivers and Downloads | Dell [United States]

P.S. If your bluetooth device IS a truemobile 355 then install that driver, not the one i provided (first link).

This handy software (and please save it for reference) will allow you to turn on the bluetooth radio to install the drivers. Try this out and come back with your results!

Sorry abut the delay in replying.

I have tried the Bluetooth driver and the software to enable the Bluetooth, but Windows still refuses to do anything with the adapter... still seeing it as both a USB Input/Composite Device. And my internet still gets stops once it's attached.

I may have to get another Bluetooth module, making sure it's a proper TrueMobile 355 (instead of a 350), since that seems to the more popular one.

Thanks for the help, though... but I think I'll kick this problem in the head for now.
