    i have an m1710 (obviously).

After alot of searching and reading i have found the 7950 GTX 512mb and the FX3500M 512mb. Will either of these work or am i limited to the 7950? (i know there are lower models, im trying to deduce the BEST one to replace with)

Thank you for your time and i apologize if this has been asked, i have read tons of posts but nothing i have seen covered this comparison (GTX7950 vs fx3500m in an M1710)

edit: i have looked EVERYWHERE trying to find a clear answer to no avail. dell seems to say 7900GS and 7950GTX are the only options, but there are listings all over ebay that say the fx-3500m will work.)

If you want to find comparisons between GPUs, look at their benchmark scores.

I did searches for "GeForce Go 7950 3dmark 06" and "FX3500m 3dmark 06" to find that their 3dmark06 scores are about the same. So their performance is equivalent.

However, the FX3500M is an nVidia Quadro-series GPU, which is intended for professional design (CAD, content creation, workstations, etc). They are not intended for gaming. You CAN game on them. but they're far more expensive, and don't get as many driver updates. Their drivers are intended for stability in professional graphics applications, and not performance.

So between the two, buy the GeForce Go 7950 GTX,.

3500M is the EXACT same thing as a 7950 go Gtx..just uses different drivers.
You can even flash it to a 7950
