So today i received my xps m1530. I plug everything in and turn it on. After the bios guess what I hear...static interference! Its the same static you get when you plug in any headphones and turn the volume up to 100. It's constant, so it doesn't become louder or softer and the sound remains the same. Kinda reminds me of the sound on the tv's when you are on that grainny channel. Anyone else have this problem? Oh, it never goes away either, even if i mute, the only real time its not there is at the bios screen that says Dell right at the beginning.

Another question, on the left side of the touch pad if you place your palm there and lift it up do you hear a small poping sound. I'm guessing its because there isn't something directly underneath the metal.

It's your power adapter? Mine has the same problem, getting it replaced. On the left side is your hard drive.

Dell haven't learned... I'll stick with my 1520 by the looks of things.. LOL (to many problems occurring with the 1530's.. It's a replay of the 1520..)

1530 owners, pick up some electrical tape, rip you're machine apart and start playing with it. I can bet +rep that it's the touchpad/palm rest throwing off the interference. Just like what causes it in the 1520/1500's. Doesn't matter if they move the jacks from the front or side, EITHER WAY, the sound card and components and cables always are running under the touchpad!

Dell needs to isolate, and put some RF shielding under the touch pad, like HP and other vendors do..

    Sigh..

    I have a similar problem.

I recieved my XPS M1530 yesterday but when I plugged I noticed that you can feel the static coming off the palm rest. It is constant even when the laptop is not switched on and only charging. I suspect some failure in the power supply shielding as it doesn't happen when the laptop is running on battery power.

Has anyone else come across this particular problem?

    As an update

Dell have said that the wrong power supply was supplied and this is passing too much current to to the laptop.

New power supply has been dispatch so hopefully this will solve the problem.

Well, my XPS M1530 arrived today, and came across this post by searching for M1530 + static :(.

I don't hear static all the time fortunately. But when I start a skype chat, the static interference (like TV in the wrong channel) comes and goes while I'm talking. The interference comes out both in the speaker and in headphones. I tried to find a patern (video on, video off, me talking, other person talking), but couldn't find something that triggers it. It's just there on an off.

I'll start using all other programs (other voice chats, music play, etc) to see if I can isolate the problem. Otherwise I know Dell say the problem is with the software and that their hardware is working fine.

If anyone had similar problems let me know so that I know where to look.

    Thanks.
