    But I have never owned a laptop before and have just bought the T8300 XPSM1530 soon to arrive.

    What type of screens do laptops have?

    Are they plasma if not LCD.

    Please dont laugh

    They are LCD, what Ragma is refering to is how the LCD is backlit.

    On the M1330 for example, Dell offer LED backlighting - which offers a brighter, more even backlight over conventional methods.

    The tradition LCDs are lit by CCFL, but the LED backlight allows for slimmer screens and they last longer.
