I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate release version on my M1530 and the sound's working fine. I backed up all my drivers on my Vista installation before installing Windows 7 and used the same software to reinstall all my drivers and they worked without issue.

i tried that sigmatel driver before, and that didn't help

I hope that its not the issue with video driver, because i use the latest, and nothing pre-historic like the 176 series

The driver's working perfectly for me without any issues at all.

I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate and it's the full release version obtained directly from Microsoft on subscription prior to it being released in the shops, it's not a Beta or trial etc. Are you using similar or is your version a pre-release? There may be the issue if so.

In terms of my graphics driver, I tried to update it but Windows update said it was the latest version available.

thanks for pointing out that old driver works.

and yes infact 176.44 does work with HDMI audio, and that is year old vista driver, while no official windows 7 drivers work with audio.

I still don't understand what causes it, since Sigmatel controls HDMI audio.

    nothing worked

with the OLD 176.44 and old sigmatel driver it works

but with new 186.81 driver it doesn't work.

    did you test HDMI audio?

Works with my configuration. Just download sound driver for vista x64 from Dell and graphic driver from nvidia for 7 x64. Remember to select HDMI as your output in sound option. Atm I don't know how to make it automatic.

what version of drivers are you using exactly?

and i know that you have to select HDMI, for me the only combo that works is 176.44 (vista driver from dell site) and old sigmatel or new IDT 6222 driver.

And it is same situation on two seperate M1530 laptops, one mine and one my friends.
