    Hi All

I have this weird issue with the screen.
"The screen turns on but no light." This means if I inspect screen in the sunlight or using a flashlight I see the graphics are drawn on the screen. But I cant see without since there is no illumination.

Now I don't know what type is my screen. LED or CCFL.

Please guide me what could be wrong. :(

You'll need to replace the LCD, the backlight is dead.

Chances are, it's a CCFL-backlit screen, as LEDs typically don't fail (they get dimmer and dimmer).

Here's the link to a replacement LCD (used, 1280x800 resolution):

Here's the link to a replacement LCD (new, 1440x900 resolution):

Here's the link to a replacement LCD assembly (used, 1440x900 resolution):

I would recommend going for the new 1440x900 screen, unless you don't want to disassemble the LCD assembly (or want to replace the plastics too...then you would have to go with the replacement LCD assembly).

It may not be the backlight, the M1530's and M1330's use an inverter board, that board might have gone bad also, so be prepared to spend money on both parts if the LCD screen is indeed not working.

I've seen completely dim LED screens, it's not all uncommon. M1330 and M1530 were sold with CCFL early run and LED late run, but sometimes it is impossible to tell what your LCD is without opening it up. LED don't have inverters as a separate piece.

I think there's also a slight difference with the LCD assembly thickness (CCFL is thicker), but I don't have reference points for the M1530. On the E6400, there's a bend at the top of the CCFL version where it gets thinner, whereas the LED version has the same thickness top to bottom.

I had no idea our laptops came that way (Still the owner of a VERY stable M1330 lol). Have to look further into this. And yep yep! LED's dont' come with inverter boards, they're built in to the screen i believe, either way... they don't come separately with one haha.

Really now? All the LED screen's i've repaired have all been misleading and looked the same to me. The only real way I can tell is to look whether there's the inverter board or not hahaha. Good to know!
